Theater Generation Future

For the 22nd time, Hamburg will serve as a meeting place for the next generation of theater artists: From May 27 to 31, 2026, the Körber Studio Junge Regie will present productions by students from German-language directing programs who have been nominated for the festival by their universities. As a laboratory for new forms of theater, the festival showcases the diversity of themes and aesthetic approaches of the participating young theater artists. It provides a space for exchange about staging methods and working processes—among themselves, with the audience, and with industry professionals from the theater scene. Over the course of five festival days, 13 productions are on the program at the festival center in the Thalia on Gaußstraße and at the Theaterakademie on Wiesendamm, including a work by the international guest university, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. The Körber Studio Junge Regie is a joint project of the Thalia Theater, the Körber Foundation, and the Theaterakademie Hamburg under the patronage of the German Stage Association.
