Great European Theater at the Lessingtage 2027

 

Starting in late January, the Thalia will once again become a hub for top-notch international theater. Among the invited productions are no fewer than nine German premieres! Chinese star director Meng Jinghui returns with a Noh theater adaptation of Genet’s The Maids, and the Belgian avantgarde collective Ontoerend Goed, Danish performance artist Madame Nielsen, and the Kulunka mask theater company will also be visiting us with their latest productions. In addition, there will be works from Hungary, Poland, Austria, and Ukraine. Peeping Tom (Belgium) and Baro d’evel (France)—major, globally touring companies—will take the main stage, using dance and acrobatics to create visually stunning performances that transcend genre boundaries. Another highlight is Jette Steckel’s production of Mephisto, which was invited to this year’s Theatertreffen.
