Forever is the latest production by the Basque theater company Kulunka Teatro, known for telling touching and deeply personal stories from everyday life using masks but without words.
We watch as a family drifts further and further away from the life they once dreamed of. It begins when the long-awaited child doesn’t quite live up to the parents’ expectations. And so they struggle to navigate a new daily reality marked by helplessness, overprotectiveness, isolation, but also infinite love. With humor, the play sheds light on the contradictions of love and explores themes of parenthood, child-rearing, disability, sexuality, and violence.
Set on a hyperrealistically designed revolving stage and told in a cinematic style, Forever unfolds like the Ferris wheel of life. A play about the idea of eternal love, in which fate is not held responsible for everything.
