»A man returns from the war. One of those who come home and yet do not come home, because there is no home left for them.« He is tired, but he cannot sleep. He wants to die, but even death does not want him. He can find no place left—nowhere.
Ran Chai Bar-zvi explores the drama surrounding Beckmann, a war veteran whose trauma finds no place in a postwar society yearning for a fresh start and oblivion. He asks where there might be a space to deal with the taboo, the darkness, the shame, and the guilt. In a touching and unflinching manner, he tells of the search for warmth that would have the strength to confront the pain.
