André Szymanski

André Szymanski, born in 1974 in Chemnitz, studied drama at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin. After graduating, he appeared on stage at the Baracke of Deutsches Theater in Berlin and in 1999, together with Thomas Ostermeier, left to join Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. There he worked with directors including Sasha Waltz, Barbara Frey and Falk Richter. It was during this time that he began his long-standing professional relationship with Luk Perceval. In 2011, André Szymanski received the Ulrich Wildgruber Prize. In 2014, he and the Moby Dick ensemble (directed by Antú Romero Nunes) were awarded the Hamburg Theatre Prize – Rolf Mares. He has been a member of the ensemble at Thalia Theatre since the 09/10 season.
