A man loves a woman he has never seen. This woman, in turn, loves a man who only pretends to be one and is otherwise a woman. That woman loves the first man, who, however, believes she is a man. This chaotic love story unfolds in Illyria, a wondrous place by the sea, populated by egocentric and foolish people. But anyone who believes that love seeks its counterpart is mistaken. The center of love is usually the lover himself or herself. Love? Self-rescue and a remedy for the wounded soul. But there is one person in Illyria who is different, who awakens hearts and expands identities.

Together with the Treppenhausorchester, Anne Lenk and the ensemble explore the possibilities of love in a world that seems to have lost it.

The multi-award-winning 20-member ensemble of the Treppenhausorchester, led by artistic director Thomas Posth, is one of the leading representatives of the innovative classical music scene in Germany and Europe. With its innovative formats, it performs its own concert series in Hanover and Hamburg and regularly appears at major national and international festivals and concert halls.
