Maja Schöne
Maja Schöne was born in Stuttgart in 1976. While still studying at Westfälische Schauspielschule in Bochum, she worked with director Leander Haußmann, who recruited her to the ensemble of Schauspielhaus Bochum in 1999. From 2001 to 2007, during Tom Stromberg's tenure as artistic director, she was a member of the ensemble at Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, where she worked with directors Sebastian Hartmann (as Amalia in Die Räuber), Jürgen Gosch and, most frequently, Jan Bosse. Under Bosse, she played Irina in Drei Schwestern and the girl in Roberto Zucco, for which she received the Friends of the Schauspielhaus Newcomer Award in 2002.
Guest performances took her to Hanover, Zurich and, in 2007, to Schauspiel Köln, where she was honoured for her role as Brunhild in Friedrich Hebbel's Die Nibelungen at Theaterfestival Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Maja Schöne joined the ensemble of Thalia Theater in 2009, when Joachim Lux became artistic director. She worked with Luk Perceval, among many others, and received the Hamburg Theatre Prize – Rolf Mares in 2017 for her role as Nana in his Émile Zola trilogy.
She also appears regularly in film and television, including in Marc Schlichter's Cowgirls (nominated for the Undine Award), Die Buddenbrooks (directed by Heinrich Breloer) and Zarte Parasiten (directed by Christian Becker and Oliver Schwabe). At the 2013 Berlinale, she was awarded the German Actors' Prize for her performance in the feature film Der Brand. Maja Schöne plays the role of Hannah Kahnwald in the Netflix production Dark.
Maja Schöne was a permanent member of the ensemble from 09/10 to 21/22 and has been associated with Thalia Theater as a guest ever since.
