The production, which emerged from an in-depth engagement with the work of artist Louise Bourgeois, explores the perspectives of three figures: Ophelia, Scheherazade, and Arachne—weavers, storytellers, creators, and spinners. How can they stop (re)producing their canon and develop their own, self-determined identity?
Killjoys counters the capitalist principle of solidification with the concept of fluidity: a constant groping, interrupting, and rearranging. A play about the joy of disruption and the power to repeatedly chew through rigid systems in order to set them in motion and make them negotiable.
(Third-year workshop production, theme: Endangered Presents)
