Premiere 17.10.25, Thalia Gaußstraße
Gregor Samsa provides for his family, subjugates himself, performs – until one morning he finds himself transformed into a bug. Suddenly he is worthless, a burden to those who once needed him. His family turns away from him, society rejects him. Kafka's Die Verwandlung (»The Metamorphosis«) is one of the most famous stories about alienation, adaptation and the desire to be seen. It raises the question: What happens to those who no longer fit into the system? Burhan Qurbani, known for his cinematic interpretations of, among others, Berlin Alexanderplatz and Kein Tier. So Wild, transfers Kafka's story to a present that redefines belonging. In an age when marginalisation is used as a political tool, Kafka's story seems to echo our fragile present.
