Tilo Werner

Tilo Werner, born in 1969 and raised in Essen, studied drama at Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin. After his third year, he was hired by Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. When Thomas Ostermeier and Jens Hillje took over the Baracke in Berlin, Tilo Werner joined Deutsches Theater and eventually Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. After meeting Arpád Schilling, he left for Budapest's Krétakör Theatre, for which he learned Hungarian. He later became a member of the ensemble at Vienna's Burgtheater, but remained attached to his adopted home of Budapest and appeared in numerous Hungarian short films and feature films. Tilo Werner has been a member of the ensemble at Thalia Theatre since the 09/10 season. He has worked with Luc Perceval, Dimiter Gotscheff, Kornél Mundruczó, Kirill Serebrennikov, among others, and regularly appears as a voice artist for radio dramas and features.
