Isabelle Redfern
Isabelle Redfern, born in Munich, studied anthropology and art history, later drama and music. She works as an actress and director, performing at Residenztheater Munich, Kammerspiele Munich, Burgtheater Vienna, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Volksbühne and Deutsches Theater Berlin, among others. In 2019, she joined the ensemble at Schaubühne Berlin, where she continues to perform as a guest. She has worked with directors such as Katie Mitchell, Thomas Ostermeier, Jan-Christoph Gockel, Robert Icke and Robert Wilson, and won the ITI Ensemble Prize for Mittelreich (directed by Anta Helena Recke). As a voice artist, she most recently read Halbinsel by Kristina Bilkau (winner of the Leipzig Book Fair) and recited Peer Gynt for Musikpodium Stuttgart (musical direction: Frieder Bernius).
She directed Drei Kameradinnen at Staatstheater Darmstadt, which was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the TheaterFestival Bensheim in 2023, and Sistas! at Volksbühne Berlin (directed by Redfern & Stoll). Sistas! was invited to the Mülheim Theatre Festival, the Nachbarşchaften Festival at Thalia Theater and the Akzente Festival Duisburg, and won the audience award at the Radikal jung Festival 2023. In 2024 she directed Cypressenburg at Burgtheater in Vienna, Datscha at Sophiensäle in Berlin and Mama Mega at Volksbühne Berlin with the MamaNoSing company.
