"I work at a federal research center.
/ Sun, moon, and stars, / not my business. /
I take care of the Earth, / no problem."
This is Aaron speaking: geologist, around forty, gay, formerly religious (son of a pastor's family), and overwhelmed. “No problem” is as far away here as the sun, moon, and stars. Problems are everywhere in his life, and most of them arise in connection with people. So it makes sense to retreat and take care of the Earth. “We need to talk more about raw materials!” he exclaims enthusiastically. But no one is interested in parched lands, boiling seas, and the greed-driven plundering of mineral resources. Fortunately, there is his stuffed pig Tupper: his number one conversation partner and stabilizer in a faltering world. With him, Aaron sets off: he travels to Peru, tries his hand at work, love, and friendship.
Caren Jeß writes a play about the absolute overload of the present. With her radical contemporary antihero, she penetrates to the core of the individual, where both the prototypical and the special lie. She does not make fun, but tells her story with whimsy, wit, and quick-wittedness, easily making us love her quirky characters while still recognizing what is wrong with them and our world.
Director Marie Bues, known for her love of contemporary drama, encounters this dizzying world, pauses time, and takes an unabashed and affectionate look at excessive demands, megalomania, and the search for stability.
