Mary Stuart and Elizabeth Tudor.
Both have a claim to the English crown, yet only one can wear it.
A close bond that turned into rivalry.
A steadily growing and stoked hatred for the other: the “whore,” the “bastard,” the greatest adversary of all.
The people of England and the royal advisors see it clearly:
There can only be one.
This retelling of Schiller’s historical fiction *Maria Stuart* deals with the end of the struggle for the English crown and the pain of a friendship consumed by rivalry and mistrust, in a world woven from power plays and strategies.
