What do a newsstand owner, a psychologist, an auto mechanic, and a funeral director have in common? At first glance, not much. It’s only when we ask who keeps our society running that their connections come into focus. Who ensures that all of our lives run smoothly—day after day? And why do people, despite heavy workloads and inadequate pay, pour so much sense of responsibility and compassion into their paid work?

As a collective, werkgruppe2 has been producing documentary theater projects for nearly twenty years. For Feierabend, they’ve developed a musical evening full of power and warmth based on life story interviews with working people from Hamburg’s urban community and a collaboration with actors from the Thalia Theater and Meine Damen und Herren.
