What do a newsstand owner, a psychologist, an auto repair shop manager, and a funeral director have in common? At first glance, not much. It’s only when we ask who keeps our society running that their connections come into focus. Who ensures that all of our lives run smoothly—day after day? And why do people, despite heavy workloads and inadequate pay, pour so much sense of responsibility and compassion into their paid work?

As a collective, werkgruppe2 has been producing documentary theater projects for nearly twenty years. For Feierabend, they’ve developed an inclusive, musical evening full of power and warmth, based on life story interviews with working people from Hamburg’s urban community and featuring a collaboration of actors from the Thalia Theater and the theater group *Meine Damen und Herren*.

The linchpin of the evening’s plot is a kiosk selling snacks and drinks, which you are welcome to enjoy during the performance. Join us for Feierabend—the kiosk opens half an hour before the show starts and replaces the regular bar service in the foyer. Please bring cash. The kiosk’s payment system is a bit outdated—but the themes are all the more relevant.

We can’t take every aspect of a “relaxed performance” into account, but we still want to create an experience that benefits many people.

You are welcome to step outside and come back in (e.g., if the content is overwhelming or you feel overstimulated).
You are invited to make noises and show your reactions (there’s no need to hold anything back).
We offer alternative seating in the front row (beanbag chairs).
