Every child knows the story of Sleeping Beauty. What is less well known is that Humperdinck wrote an opera of the same name. In collaboration with the Thalia Theater, the State Opera will celebrate the premiere of this work on the third day of the OPERA AND ANIMATION festival with a multimedia production. Opera and animation—that’s the program: Director Anna Bergmann and her team present a lavish opera celebration featuring animated journeys through fantasy worlds and different eras.


A celebration of the fantastical that invites us all to rediscover the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and her fairies as a dream of self-determination.
