Merlin Sandmeyer

Merlin Sandmeyer, born in Saarbrücken in 1990, worked as an assistant director, musician and actor at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken even before he studied drama. Whilst studying at the Otto Falckenberg Schule in Munich, he made guest appearances at the Münchner Kammerspiele, and in 2015 he received the O. E.-Hasse Prize for young actors from the Akademie der Künste Berlin and the Marina-Busse-Solo-Prize at the Schauspielschultreffen in Bochum. In 2016, he took up his first engagement at the Burgtheater in Vienna, where he worked with Herbert Fritsch, Michael Thalheimer and Antú Romero Nunes, among others. In 2019, he was awarded the Boy Gobert Prize by the Körber Foundation, and in 2024, the Hamburg Theatre Prize – Rolf Mares.
