Martin Woestmeyer

Martin Woestmeyer was born in Münster (Westphalia) in 1970 and studied political science, philosophy and journalism there, later going on to study social and economic history in Hamburg. In 1995, he was part of the team led by Axel Schneider and Dietrich Wersich that reopened the privately-run Altonaer Theater. He worked for the operating company – which also includes the Harburg Theatre, the Hamburger Kammerspiele and venues in Schenefeld and Bergedorf – until the 2009/2010 season. When Joachim Lux took over as artistic director, he moved to the Thalia Theatre as head of audience services. He was politically active until 2003 and served as a member of the Hamburg Parliament during its 17th legislative term.
