Felix Knopp
Felix Knopp, born in Gelsenkirchen in 1975, studied drama at Schauspielschule Bochum and was cast by Leander Haußmann for his Shakespeare production Measure for Measure at Schauspiel Bochum in 1999, one year before graduating. He then worked with Dimiter Gotscheff on Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author. His collaboration with Gotscheff continued at the Schauspielhaus in Graz, where he appeared in Dejan Dukovski's Das Pulverfass and also made guest appearances at Thalia Theater.
From 2001 to 2011, Felix Knopp was a member of the Thalia ensemble, working with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Michael Talke, René Pollesch and, repeatedly, with Michael Thalheimer and Stephan Kimmig. In 2003, he was named Newcomer of the Year by Theater heute magazine. In 2007, he developed another working relationship with Nicolas Stemann, with whom he collaborated on Ulrike Maria Stuart and Die Räuber. With My Darkest Star – a trip along Depeche Mode, Felix Knopp (vocals, guitar) and his musicians put together a concert performance that enjoyed a long run at Thalia's Nachtasyl bar and was also recorded on CD. This project evolved into the 2011 stage production Draußen vor der Tür (directed by Luk Perceval), for which Felix Knopp and his band composed the music. Draußen vor der Tür toured extensively, including performances in Beijing and Moscow. The show won the 2013 Golden Mask Award in the category Best Foreign Production Presented in Russia.
From 2012 to 2020, he worked as a freelance actor, performing as a guest at various theatres, including Deutsches Theater Berlin and Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. From 20/21 to 25/26, Felix Knopp was once again a permanent member of the Thalia Theater ensemble.
