In this piece, which has enjoyed success all over Europe, Kornél Mundruczó develops a political study in an increasingly extremist Europe – all done in his own laconic, direct style. The play is based on a real case from Hungary: a young man attacked another young person with a sword, both of them from the Roma community. Imitation of Life searches for the story behind the story. It leaves us with unsettlingly power ful images of a world in which all points of reference have gone astray.
