Branko Šimić

Born in Tuzla and raised in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Branko Šimić came to Hamburg to train as a director. In 2002, he was awarded the Hamburg Award for Theatre Directors by the Masonic Lodge, ‘Zu den drei Rosen’. In recent years his work has been performed at places including Kampnagel, the Vienna Festwochen, the Würzburg State Theatre, the Tuzla Theatre (Bosnia-Herzegovina), the Dresden Schauspielhaus and the Sarajevo National Theatre. In 2014 he curated Kampnagel’s ‘Crass – Culture Crash Festival’. This season he has collaborated with portrait and reportage photographer, Armin Smailovic to realise their documentary theatre project, ‘Srebrenica – I counted my remaining life in seconds…’ at Thalia Gaußstraße.
