Gianna-Sophia Weise studied scenography and costume design with a focus on costume at the University of Design and Media in Hannover from 2011 to 2016. During her studies she worked on several projects as a costume designer: for example for the short film "Nicht hier, nicht da" with Sibylle Brunner (director: Jan Wagner) or the operetta production "Das wahre Tier, das wilde schöne Tier" (director: Cornelia Repschläger) in cooperation with the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. From 2016 to 2019 Sophia worked as a permanent costume assistant at the Thalia Theater. During this time, she designed the sets for several plays at Thalia Theater: for example, the costume and set design for "Die Welt von Gestern" (Thalia Nachtasyl; director: Agnes Oberauer), "Simpel" (Thalia Klassenzimmerstück; director: Helge Schmidt) and "Kollaps - Ein dystopischer Abend" (Thalia Nachtasyl; director: Peter Thiers), as well as the costume design for "Furor" (Thalia in der Gaußstraße; director: Helge Schmidt). In the external interdisciplinary play "Obduktion einer Kunstfigur - Klaus Nomi" (Thalia Nachtasyl, Lichthof Theater, Monsun Theater (in the context of Hauptsache Frei Festival); director: Jens Bluhm) she also participated as costume and set designer. Since 2019 Gianna-Sophia Weise works as a freelance costume and set designer for theater, opera, performance, interdisciplinary play development and video/film.
